I was on 0.5 mg up to 3 times daily. I'm not a good one to determine a response from a medication because I respond so strangely to most. With Klonopin, it was supposed to be sedating - I had to go up to 1 mg at a time. I did feel better on that, but only used it briefly as I adjusted to Effexor.

i take it as needed, but before i was taking up to 3-4mg a day... now i only take 1 (.5mg) when i need it since my tolerance built up so quickly to it i try not to take it unless absolutely needed

it worked good in the beginning but now it feels like it doesn't do anything

About 20 years, 2 mg./day, for the first 10 or so years the k-pin was very helpful. it is no longer helping me, but I am physically addicted to it. The med now has a "paradoxical effect" on my body - i.e., it actually causes anxiety and agitation. It has damaged certain brain receptors and caused cognitive issues for me. I need to go off it but have horrific withdrawal symptoms when I try to decrease the medication.

Have you read through this thread: http://forums.psychcentral.com/psych...ing-pills.html

I've been on Klonopin about 6 months. I'm prescribed .5 mg 3x daily, but I usually only take two. One in the morning and one at night. I take the third one if I have particularly bad day. I do believe my body is adjusting to the dosage and not working as well as it did. Not a good sign.

I have been on K for many years. I was up to 10mg at one point. Now I am down to 4mg at night with Seroquel. I am hoping to come off K over a six month period when my p'doc has stopped adjusting my Lovan.

Been on K-pin for two months. .5 mg in the morning and .5 mg at night. Totally knocked out my anxiety. So far no tolerance build up that I can tell...it is still working. no side effects.

Well it seems like I have a little difficulty typing with words like if and it and did and so on. I meant to type "did" and I typed "it" when I reread it. That could be age or meds or just plain typos like everyone has....I dunno. Seems different than ever before though.

I just started Klonopin yesterday - 0.5mg 3x per day. It worked beautifully after taking the first 2 pills. Today it doesn't appear to have any effect at all.
Is this normal ?

What are you taking it for? I assume anxiety. If my anxiety gets super high no drugs will touch it. One time they gave me a muscle relaxer for anxiety because they didn't want to give me a benzo. Told me to take one for extreme anxiety, it took three to even touch my mild anxiety.

Another time I have extremely bad anxiety and nothing to take for it. I had ambien for sleep but it took three ambien to get four hours sleep. My anxiety can eat up drugs like candy.

Luckily my low dose of K-pin has been working great.......cross fingers.

I have been taking klonopin for sleep for two days now and it seems to have an adverse affect on me. At first I feel it working as the anti anxiety, and it helps me fall asleep, but I wake up a couple of hours later and I'm back to anxiety and nightmares.

Maybe I need to increase the dosage?

Here is a long thread on it.

Personally I wouldn't recommend benzo's for sleep just because of what you mentioned. I know for me it would take a huge dose to keep me asleep even four hours. I do take .5 mg of Klonopin at night and one in the morning but it is for anxiety. We just figured since I was taking it might as well use it to help with sleep a little. My sleep has really stayed the same before and after so I don't know how much it helps.

I use Remeron at night for sleep. It works great at least for the first four hours and then I start waking up. Alot of people sleep through the night on it. It is an AD and harmless, not addictive, no withdrawal and all of that. Some people gain a lot of weight on it but I haven't.

They also use Trazadone another older AD. It will knock you out in 15 minutes. Some people complain they feel hungover in the morning. It only kept me asleep for four hours and then I start waking up.

No matter what I try I only get four hours out of it. I paid big bucks for Lunesta a while back and it didn't do a damn thing. That was weird.

Remeron and Trazadone are much safer than a benzo for sleep.

I've been taking Klonopin for about 20 yrs. I usually take 2-3 mgs. a day. It seems to work most days, but every once in a while my anxiety is so bad, it doesn't touch it.

I'm supposed to be taking it to help with sleep. I take Paxil for daily anxiety and xanax for panic attacks.

I was on Xanax, but it really did nothing but put me to sleep - the Klonopin knocked out the "emotional outbursts" and calmed me down alot, and I feel so much better.
I was crying for days on end, and now I'm not. I hope the Klonopin continues to work for me. My Cymbalta was also upped to 90mg per day so I hope all of this makes me feel alot better.
Thanks for this!

I don't know that the klonopin is really helping that much except that it calms me down right before bedtime but then it wears off really fast. So maybe I need a higher dose?

Reading from the above I might want to try trazodone for awhile.

I take Klonopin as needed, usualy .5-1 mg at a time..have been for about 5 years. Before that, I would take Ativan or Xanax. To be honest, I don't feel much difference between the three.
