I hated it, withdrawal was literal hell. Not to scare you. But coming off the drug was terrible. It did not help me and side effects when increasing my dose were pretty rough but those went away after awhile, going off it like I said, well I felt like I was dying (and I went off it very slow).

Doctors do have a habit of not mentioning how hard it can be to stop. Withdrawal is a !@#$%.
Otherwise I had no real issue it, although I did find my dose steadily increasing until I was on the max so maybe it didn't work so well. |

I've never been on it personally. My old GP doc tried to put me on it once and I never picked up the script because of the horror stories I have read.
But some people say it worked great for them, so you never really know. I think a majority of people say it is hell to come off of but if it works great for you hopefully you won't have to go through that part!

I've been using it for several years. The only side effect I've experienced is sexual. And yeah that is a big deal but the med does work. As the others mentioned some people have hell getting off of it. Some don't. I've stopped twice. The first time was awful. The second time my doc prescribed a low dose of Prozac that helped with the withdrawal problems. Almost completely mitigated them. I've never taken a higher dosage than 75mg.
Trying a new AD is always iffy. I wish you good luck. |

I've am on 225mg of Effexor. I started at 150mg back in 2000. I love, if you can love a pill, this med. I immediately notice when I don't take it. All I want to do is cry uncontrollably over everything. When I'm on it, I can control my crying more effectively and I function better. Ask your pharmacist about the two drugs, how they interact, and withdrawal effects. A pharmacist is trained to know how the med affects the human. A PDoc knows about the meds and new medication, but his specialty is not keeping track of how medicines interact. Good luck!
