I have been on Klonopin for over 3 1/2 years. Was on 2 mg for that period of time until this past summer when I was increased to 3 mg. This past December I had a nurse practioner instead of my pdoc because she was in a car wreck. I told her that I didn't really think that the Klonopin was helping like it had in the past. Boy do I feel sorry for even saying it. I got Ambien to help me sleep. She cut the Klonopin off cold turkey. About 2 weeks ago I started feeling really odd. I thought that it was problems with my disorder and not the cold turkey of the Klonopin. I have found out a lot of stuff about Klonopin and what happens when you go cold turkey. That you are suppose to ween off of it. Well I feel really miserable right now. I have tried getting ahold of this nurse practioner to see if she can give me some Klonopin so I can ween off of it, but haven't heard back from her yet. I just wished right now that what I am feeling I wasn't. I know that now I am addicted to the Klonopin and am going to have a very extremely difficult time coming off of this. I really don't know what to do to feel better. I have heard that it could take up to a year to have completely get rid of the withdraws due to going cold turkey. I can't handle that. Klonopin problems

Well it does not take a year, but cold turkey from 3mg qd is really bordering on malpractice. You could have had major problems. Most people do OK with a .5mg taper every month just fine with some extra care at the end.

I think it is malpractice. I know well the difficulties in coming off Klonopin. I also took 3 mg per day and had to be hospitalized to safely come off it. Please know that I took it for a considerably longer period of time than you. I recommend contacting your doctor. I know it doesn't help you, but I sure know exactly what you're going through.
Good luck to you!!

Well I have left a message with my doctor. This is one of the worst things that I have went through and it's only been a couple weeks and it is difficult to say the least. I don't do drugs and it takes forever for me to take something that I feel I don't need. I'm really upset that they have done this. My T isn't in town, but I have contacted her via email. She is upset needless to say. I'll let you all know what I find out today.

I'm saying a year of cold turkey. I have heard that it could take up to a year. Not saying that it is, just stating what others have gone through from what I have read. I have contacted my doctor and am trying to find out what they are going to do if anything.

Well Dr is calling in some Klonopin. She was trying to act like not a big deal, but anyways. It is being called in and can get it today. So will have to let it get my blood levels back to where it should be to start feeling better. Klonopin problems

Your blood level will be as high as it will get 2 hrs after you take your first dose.
