Any good or bad on lithium? I am recently diagnosed BPD, we've played with a lot of different meds. Lithium has worked great for other family members. Anyone experience any grogginess or weight gain?

I've been on lithium since Nov.2001, like it a lot more than depakote. Gained 10lbs, only compared to the 20lbs I gained within the first 6-8 months on that so I asked for lithium instead. My brother has been on it for 30 years and has done great after he had wasted 8 yrs of his life being put on all different stuff that never helped him, so lithium was his "miracle". I figured biologically he and I are of the same "wood" so maybe if I tried it it would help me too, it has It doesn't sedate you like depakote does so you can function a little better, but then everyone is different so I can not say it works the same for others but it does have a great track record, I even had a professor that claimed it is the best med for him and that he had been on it for years and would not change. Enough said, weight gain, all these meds. seem to cause weight gain that part sucks Keep in touch, take care.

PS I like that "ditty" about "Sally"
