I was wondering why there was a warning that contraception should be used while taking effexor?

Hi,
I am no expert, but warnings like that is due to the fact that meds. like this cause birth defects so it is best to use BC and avoid having a baby which can be born with birth defects, plus I personally would want to wait to have a baby after any life crisis have been resolved before bringing a child into this world, wouldn't you?
"darkeyes"

My birth control while on EFFEXOR was just not having any. I was like a zombie, latargic and sleeping all the time...but if you are awake enough to get some...good for you!

Thats what I've been doing for sometime, I can't believe I'm just not interested anymore. I agree with Darkeyes this is not the time to bring a baby into the world. Thanks for the answer I was wondering as it said "WARNING" and I didn't know why.

Crazie - Darkeyes is correct about the "pregnancy on Effexor" thing. The warning in the monograph is the drug company covering butt. Remember drug monographs are lawyers documents written by lawyers for lawyers.
