I had only taken Buspar for a few days on a low dose of 15 mg/day, when my eyelid began rapidly twitching after 45 minutes of ingestion of the first dose with food. This did not let up until about 24 hours later and STOPPING Buspar.

I have never had this experience before and let me tell you it is one of the WORST experiences I have had - I could not sleep or concentrate. I even put a bag of pennies, in an effort to sleep, on my eye to try to stop the twitching but the bag just bounced up and down!

One of the side effects of Buspar is involuntary movement / possible permanent tardive dyskinesia. Pain I can tolerate for some reason, but this CONSTANT and FREQUENT (3 twitches per second) sensation was driving me nuts!

Now several days later, I'm having occasional sharp shooting pains in the right side of head (is this a "brain zap"?).

Long story short I regret going on Buspar. Anyone had a similar experience on this "mild" drug?

Thanks Moody! Yes I would gradually cut down as well if you feel Buspar is counterproductive. Unfortunately, I had to quit cold turkey. I DID have withdrawal effects which was not fun for about a day. I'm sure if you were on it longer, the withdrawal would last longer.

I didn't like BuSpar either. It began making me feel somehow restrained and drugged up, and I had a lot of "brain zaps" / dizziness while on it.

I'm glad to hear it wasn't just me. I felt drunk or blah, lacking motivation, while on Buspar. I actually didn't feel the brain zaps until I went off it and while on it, I took my split doses at almost the same times daily.

I posted about it on another thread so I don't want to be too redundant, but I hated it. It made me dizzy. Like 15 minutes after taking it, the room would start spinning.
That may be fine if you don't have anywhere to be, but if you are supposed to leave for work in 5 minutes, that's a problem.

It made me very sleepy 45-60 minutes after each dose and a little dizzy as well. I took it with food. But yep, this drug isn't practical. Good news is that the brain zaps discontinued after two weeks of stopping buspar and the eyelid twitching did not return.
Thanks for this!
