Anyone taking Lamictal? I take 200mg and I have quite a process just to be able to swallow it. I'm wondering how others manage it. The tablet starts disolving before I can swallow it and it's so bitter I feel like a cat foaming at the mouth as you force medicine down its throat. I found that eating spicy food first helped, but I've ended up buying gel caps, crushing the tablet with mortar and pestle, pouring it in with a folded business card, and packing it down with the end of a makeup brush. Stomaching Lamictal

Does it taste that bitter to anyone else?

Hey there girly Stomaching Lamictal I take it and had the same problems. Chalky tasting Stomaching Lamictal Oh yum couldn't wait for the next dose Stomaching Lamictal I figured out an easier way for me. I hope this doesn't gross you out, but it works for me. I swallow so my mouth is dry (No saliva) then I put the tablet in the back of my throat and get a big glass of something flavored and swallow it down. I have the problem of the taste staying in my mouth too, but with drinking a flavored water or beverage it throws off the taste. Hope this helps Stomaching Lamictal

I have a possible solution that I use and may work for you.

Pills that dissolve quickly > COLD water:

The trick to getting pills down is to have a glass of water (In lamictal's case, COLD water) and swish a little in your mouth before hand. Then take another big sip and hold the water in your mouth, then act like you are about to gurgle mouthwash (tilt your head up and open your mouth) then drop the lamictal in and swallow real fast. This way you do not have to put the pill in your mouth where it hits your tongue and immediately starts to dissolve. If the pill still gets stuck in your mouth, which happens on occasion and sucks but it is something you just have to deal with, just take another gulp and swallow down as soon as you can, and if this happens follow with chocolate or some jelly beans Stomaching Lamictal

Gelatin capsules - WARM / HOT water:

Swish the pill with hot water in your mouth for 5-10 seconds so that the gelatin partially disolves, this way the pill wont *stick* to the back of your throat.

Always follow pills that can possibly get stuck in your throat with a small bit of food.

Just a few tricks I've learned
