I have for years been plagued by medications that have little to no effect and because my old doctor listed me as a MI drug seeker I can not get any doctor to take me seriously when I suggest that I need either different meds or higher dosages.

One day I decided to take all my meds for the entire day at once. Soon I felt better than I had in years, so I have been doing this every morning since. By the end of the day I am very tired so I take a sleeping pill and get a couple hours sleep. I will nap once during the night and once during the day.

So the meds I take all at once (am) are:
  • 3 mg Ativan
  • 5 mg Risperidone
  • 90 mg Cymbalta
  • 750 mg Tegretol
  • 30 mg Baclofen
  • 120 mg Inderal

At supper I take:
  • 7.5 mg Zopiclone
  • 75 mg Trazodone

What opinions to you have on me doing this?
Hugs from:
kaliope
Thanks for this!

I don't know at what doses those drugs are supposed to be taken or what some of them are so hard to say.

but I have a drug that is supposed to be taken three times a day and another two times a day but I am just no good at remembering to take my drugs often so I just take them all in the morning too. I know it is not as good this way because I do not have an even amount of the drug in my system for the day but I figure as long as I have it in me it is good enough. I get a blast of it when I really need it when I am functioning out in the world for the day and if it is wearing off when I am at home alone then it doesn't really matter to me. I am safe.

I think you are fine except the ativan should be spread out.

Sleeping only two hours a night is not good. None of that sounds healthy or sustainable. Your body probably doesn't know what to make of any meds you do take. Have you considered a detox/addiction program?

This is exactly how I feel it works for me.

Yes actually I do try to this if I feel I don't need that much calming down.

As I said I nap once during the day and once during the night which in total gives me about 4-5 hours of sleep, I have been this way for years now.

I don't think detox will help since it is not a matter of addiction. Quite simply I just don't know what else to do since my pdoc will not change my meds or dosages.

I don't understand why your pdoc will not work with you. If you think they are not effective than why would he not try new things.

How does your pdoc say you should spread out the doses? I am sure the ativan is three times a day or PNR as needed.

Yes the Ativan should be 1 mg 3x a day.

When I manage to get in to see my regular doctor (brand new) I will mention to her how I take my meds. I think she will be far more helpful than my pdoc. There are no pdocs accepting new patients in my city right now which is why I can't just simply go see another one. But I'm sure something will open up sooner for a "confirmed wacko".

I just started doing this as well. Working third shift makes it hard to switch day and night meds on my days off. Now I take everything at sleep time, it has really helped me to keep from missing doses.

Hi,

I am on risperidone and although I take them of them all at once, I think you are supposed to spread them out during the day. Maybe I am wrong, so do check, but I don't think taking all 5 at once is a good idea.

My pain specialist commented that they are doing studies on DNA trying to prove that some bodies need a higher dose of certain meds for them to work because of the metabolism of the drug......for being a very small person, I needed a very high dose of pain medication to control the migraine pain when no migrain meds would touch the pain....but high dose of pain med was the only thing that worked. They said that the same study applied to benzos & possibly other medications also.....has to do with the bodies metabolism which they are thinking is a DNA thing.....so maybe putting them all in your system at the same time reinforces that .

I hate taking pills in the first place...so glad that my pain medication comes as a patch that works for 3 days

If I take my meds as scheduled I feel like I am going up and down all day. But if I take them all at once in the early morning I feel good all day, right until 7:30 pm. Then I take a Trazodone so I can get a couple of hours sleep. After that I am good until morning.

I will definitely try to remember to tell my doctor this when I see her next, which will be within the next 2 weeks.
