Hi All,

Well, the doctor finally described me something today after suffering from a deep depression since January. She gave me Cipralex.

My question is how is it? Has anybody here been on it/are on it? Do you find that it helps? How are the side effects.

I've been posting in the relationship board about my depression (girlfriend dumped me, alcoholic father at home, low self-esteem), so I'm really hoping that Cipralex, my wonderful counsellor, friends, and a positive outlook will help me beat this depression.

Hi there. I'm on Cipralex too. It's called Lexapro in the U.S. but I live in Canada so the brand name here is Cipralex. You'll probably find some posts in this section where people have talked about their experiences with Lexapro; it's the same medication. I've been on it for about two months. Within a couple of weeks, it lifted my depression and I haven't had a panic attack since I started taking it. This past week, I've been feeling a little bit down and having trouble focusing, but I don't know yet if it's because of the Cipralex/Lexapro (perhaps needing to increase my dose; I'm on 10mg right now) or if it's just a little blip because I'm so busy at work and have a bad cold.

I hope it works well for you! Keep us posted.

P.S. For the first week to 10 days, I had some side effects -- mainly headache, upset stomach and acid reflux. The side effects went away, though, and haven't come back.

I became quite suicidal with it - so just watch for that. Also had some weird out-of-body experiences with it. But then again, everyone is different, and I often have weird reactions to meds. My sister is on it, and it works well for her.

I'm sorry you went through that on Cipralex. Everyone is SO different. Wellbutrin made me feel suicidal and I know it makes some people feel WONDERFUL.
