I've been on geodon for about 3 and a half weeks. i think. something like that. started at 40mg and as of 3 days ago i am on 160mg. I'm seeing my dr in 5 days even though i just saw her bc she said i should feel better with the dose increase (i havent improved at all since taking it) and if i dont, she will switch me to something else.

im afraid of being switched to basically any other antipsychotic bc of the weight gain. im not overweight but im very...i dunno about my weight. I think i could easily develop an eating disorder if i begin to gain weight.

ive already been on risperdal and abilify for about a month each time, actually 2 months for risperdal and i did gain like 5lbs from it. they did not help me in any significant way with my thoughts or mood

i just want to hear some reactions to geodon, like how fast it worked, how well it worked, etc. specifically for mood and psychosis. not just mood. my mood has stabilized a bit from it.

there was a demon put inside my head and i can hear its thoughts and feelings and it is not fun. im fighting in my head constantly. it says that the reason my meds dont work is because im a fake and a liar with no mental illness. i need to get rid of this and i dont know how im scared medicine wont help. this "demon" isnt my only problem but just one that is part of my disorder. it is the most troubling though. im so paranoid all the time too and im being monitored . there is more but i cant talk about it online.

I don't have personal experience with this med, and if memory serves me, seems this med is not very commonly used by members here, based on recalling this med brought up before, don't remember who or when.

Here's a couple articles/blogs from PC that I found, hope they are of some help.

yeah it doesnt seem so common, i wonder why that is? that one link says its about the heart thing but i mean. The side effects are less than other antipsychotics.

the only side effect i have so far is drowsiness but always at the weirdest times. i take 80 in the am and 80 in the pm and it doesnt make me tired at night but during the middle of the day some days i fall asleep. sometimes at school i sleep through 5 of my classes and im in a haze almost all day...

Geodon was decent for me. I couldn't take the 2 divided doses, I had to take it all at night because it knocked me out! I didn't gain any weight, BUT, I did get a really, really bad tremor from it that I'm not convinced went away 100% even after stopping it. But my mood control was pretty good.

I took Geodon for a while several years ago. It didn't do anything for me.

My Geodon experience was mixed. It helped my mood within about two weeks, but it also caused me to be violently ill. After a month I finally had my pdoc take me off it. She told me not to taper down. UGH. I titrated down anyway and was still violently ill for a few weeks. I sure hope you're not experiencing the barfies!

I took Geodon for a while because I was also worried about weight issues. I don't have psychosis issues, so I can't comment on that, but it did help stabilize my mood and I didn't gain weight on that if that helps any, but it was almost too stimulating.
I'm currently on abilify, which seems to be a better fit for me. It's also generally weight neutral, just as an FYI, I couldn't tell from your post if you had a positive experience or not on it.

I've been on it for a couple of years. I actually lost weight on it before having to go back on Zyprexa. Now I don't know if it really does anything because the Zyprexa works so well, but I stay on it because apparently I need 2 antipsychotics to remain stable. I missed a couple of doses of Geodon recently because I ran out, and I was a hot mess.....guess I'd better call my refills in sooner next time.
