I am always tired and have trouble getting up in the morning - I was wondering: is it better to take celexa in the morning or evening for depression?

I also take seroquel to sleep so I don't know if that's also interfering...

IMO - I think this is going to be one of those trial and error things...... I take Celexa in the morning for I need its help to control the anxiety I have when I leave the house during the day and it seems to control it better for me when I take it when I first get up......... but others take it at night for they like the way it helps them relax and be able to sleep at night.

BTW - I have been taking Celexa for just over a year now and while it used to leave me tired for a few hours after I took it - it no longer has that effect on me.... my RA takes care of that part now - lol.

Thanks....

I took Celexa for over a year and I took it in the evening. I have a fear of medications and side effects and am afraid that any pills will increase my nausea. So, I felt "safer" taking it at night. I had a fear that I would feel more nauseous after taking it (even though I rarely did) and I just felt more comfortable taking that "risk" at home at night rather than just before going to work. Everyone's different, though. Celexa worked very well for me.

I take mine at night, bc I think it helps me not wake up with depression, but I have often thought of trying to take it in the morning, or one dose in the a.m. and one in the p.m.

I take 80 mg. daily - pretty wild huh, (have to always get a manual override at the pharmacy celexa in the morning or evening?, since highest recommended dose is 60 mg.), but it works (for which I am exceedingly grateful)!

Best wishes that you will have good results whatever you decide! celexa in the morning or evening?

I take mine in the morning and I take trazodone before I go to bed. My psychiatrist said to take it after you eat so it doesn't upset your stomach.

Hi! My Doctor just put me on Celexa. After being on Cymbalta...my depression has come back. I will be finding out thru trial and error, I guess, as to the question of taking it in the morning vs. taking it at night. Please wish me well. I don't want to wind up in the hospital again.

love, dottie

I always began a new med in the evening (don't ask me why, that's what the MD did so I guess she figured if I was asleep I wouldn't "react??" but it's also the time when the " night shift" is on at the ER celexa in the morning or evening?) I always moved it to morning and that worked out best...for the few that I could take for short periods of time.

The Seroquel can definitely make it hard to get up. (It sure does for me). I have to take it about 9 pm if I plan on being anything like useful in the morning. Most SSRI's tend to pick you up, I think, so take it in the morning...

Celexa made me feel brain-foggy. I found it hindered my concentration. Lexapro is doing the same now, but to a lesser extent. It seems like I'm never going to feel fully alert again. I suppose it's a decent trade-off for finding something that keeps the panic attacks and depression at bay. celexa in the morning or evening?
