Finally I am getting off of this 'Bad Drug'. I've been on it for almost two years and it has literally destroyed my sense of self. Not to mention I put on 50 lbs. I started the transfer over to Geodon yesterday. The next couple of weeks should be interesting to say the least. I've been on Geodon before but had to get off of it because I lost my insurance and it was too expensive. I now have insurance so the cost is nominal. I really hope it helps the process of getting back to myself. I can't stand the numbness of feeling the Respridol causes. It's too much.

i have been offered risperdol so many times and i totally refuse to even try it. my daughter took it for a month and gained 25lbs. there was no way i was going there. i have taken geodon for years but realized recently it was causing TD, neorlogical issues by making my pinkie and forefinger stand up in the air. i got off it for about six months and it mostly went away but then i had a two month long mania and went back on it and it came right back again. i am trying to ease off of it, but i just dont feel safe without it.

I was on Risperdal for three years, from age 15 to 18 until a few months ago. It worked great for me, until I had the idea that I was cured and decided to stop taking it.

Different meds work for different people.

I'm on geodon right now and although I don't think it's exactly weight neutral it's the only AP I've taken that has allowed me to lose weight (although I kind of am starving myself).

The med change went off without a hitch! I can't tell you how much better I feel. I can actually 'feel' now. It's awesome. Kaliope, I was starting to get involuntary muscle spasms as well and my PDoc put me on a Vitamin E supplement and that has helped. I'm no longer having the spasms.
