Hello guys. Its a long story, but I have no mental illness.

I was taking 10mg of Abilify for approximately 6 weeks, then quit cold turkey. Instantly after day or so I noticed mild tinnitus (never had this previously except for a min if something like firework would explode near me), despite I had severe chest infection at time of quiting I attributed that high pitch constant tone in my head to stopping drugs. In like 10 days withdrawal hit me I thought my joints will brake if I try walking, mood swings, panic, anxiety etc. etc. I instantly took 10 mg it all went away except tinnitus. Then with weekly decreasements in dosage 10mg week 7.5mg week 5mg week 2-3mg 10 days I tried quitting again. Despite going back on Abilify tinnitus remains, quiting again didn't increase its strenght. There is a very small chance I have long lasting infection from cold (didn't investigate that yet, I praise lord it would be that), but I assume it is from first time withdrawal, can anybody share some experiences or insights on this? Can this be so called withdrawal psychosis or supersensitivity? Any outcome prognosis.
Thanks in advance

Welcome to Psych Central, curiosity. I am so sorry you are suffering from tinnitus. I am not sure why you were on abilify or why you quit using it. Have you talked to your medical doctor about tinnitus. Have you tried ear wax removal drops sold over the counter.

Besides being an active participant in helping oneself at Psych Cental, many people also help support each other by replying to other people's posts. Many people who are actively involved in Psych Central find it helps take them out of their own problems to develop empathy for others. And their problems are more manageable the more they help others.

Some people find the forums give them the compassion and empathy they seek. http://forums.psychcentral.com

Thank You for Your kind words, CANDC. I was forced to take Abilify to get out of situation people forced me into, stupored and sedated by drugs not knowing their danger (I wish I knew as much as I know about APs today, I wasn't informed anything by docs, even after asking will I go back to my normal functioning after I stop taking them they said yes, only info I received was "they will reset your receptors") I kept taking them despite only few weeks ago I had promised myself stopping them, I sort of got sedatedly used to constant chillout they gave me untill I realised what they doing to my mental/physical capacities. So here I am, person with no previous issues trying withdrawal, a brand new me those meds made I thought I knew what anxiety was before when people told me "I'm having bad day". Now I know what it is

Hi Curiosity. Forced drug treatment. Ugh.

There's a new psychiatric drug withdrawal resource over here that might help

I'm sorry you're going through that. Ive never heard of tinnitus as a withdrawal symptom. I would guess it more likely you have an inner ear issue. Have you been taking aspirin?
