I was told at a rehab center that Ativan is a very bad addictive med and I shouldn' t take it. Right now I take one 1mg. Ativan a day. Will I get addicted to it? Should I tell my doctor to up one of my other meds so I won't need the Ativan? I'm a little worried about it.

Yes it can be addictive, but your dose is very small. You are fine as long as you don't start taking more, getting scripts early etc....

Pretty much all benzos can be addicting... mostly you gotta monitor yourself as you are taking it. and be honest with your pdoc. if you notice yourself taking to many, let him know. but hopefully you can avoid getting to that point by being mindful of this drug, and only taking it when you really need it. your doc (hopefully) wouldn't prescribe you something in which he felt would be detrimental, rather than beneficial. so i'm thinking he felt you could handle it... just please be mindful of how often you are taking it. good luck!

I will Pinksoil, thanks! He is allowing me 2 a day but I am limiting myself to only 1 a day and that is only if I really need it. Since I know the facts about this drug, I am going to be super careful!
