Hey all! New to this forum and look forward to being a part of it. Heres a little bit about my situation ( i will try to not make this as long as a book haha).
So.. growing up I was never an anxious or depressed person. I had my daughter when I was 21 and had post pardum bleeding so bad i had to have a hysterectomy ![]() Fast forward to 3 years ago... I had a horseback riding accident and broke a vertebrae in my spine. Thankfully i can still walk! And that is when all hell boke loose. About 4 months after the accident i had a panic attack so bad at work i almost passed out. I was so scared i went to the doctor. He said i was fine. After having more anxiety and panic attacks i went to a drop in clinic where the doctor said i have ptsd anxiety and panic disorder. I started off taking buspar and was switched to cipralex a few months later. Cipralex worked well but i felt like a broken person having to be on them so i asked the doc to taper me off. I was good for a while until one day i went to mcds for my husband and had a massive panic attack in the drive thru. I went to the doc and he put me on 10mg of cipralex again. I had the worst reaction to it. Heart palpitations, mental disconnection, severe tremors, brain zaps and lethargy. I went to the doc (again) and he prescibed me effexor but told me to take a week off of cipralex to get it out of my system. So today i took my first 75mg dose and so far so good. No nausea or disconnection. Hoping this will be the golden ticket. If anyone has any stories about switching from cip to effexor i would love to hear them. I did. No problems. Switching from an SSRI to an SSNRI is usually pretty easy.
You will probably have some brain zaps because any dosage change will cause brain zaps. They should stop once you're on the same dosage for a while. |

Thanks for your response tauren. I feel not too shabby today. Some shakiness and not very hungry but other than that im good. If this is the extent of my side effects i can totally live with it!

Hi 250.mrs.b
I have never been on Cipralex but have been on Effexor (now a generic version) for some years - it has helped me. One thing to watch out for is that should you decide to discontinue Effexor it is best that it is done slowly with close supervision from your prescribing doctor - the side-effects of unsupervised discontinuation can be very unpleasant.
