Hi all. I just started taking abilify today. I took it in the morning and about an hour later I felt completely high off my butt. My head was literally buzzing. It was so weird! I couldnt even drive to the store and had to turn around to come home b/c I was afraid id crash. I wasnt by any mean drowsy but just felt woozy almost like a dream state. It wore off about a few hours later and now I feel completely fine.

I have always been extremely sensitive to psychiatric meds and I'm a diagnosed hypochondriac.

Did this happen to you when you first started taking a new anti psychotic?

Im thinking maybe its just going to take some time to adjust my body to the new medication?

I have a history of stopping medication because of stupid things that scare me a little. I really want to stick this one out but not if i feel high when i take it.. Thanks!

I'm not sure if I had side effects on Abilify like feeling high. How much did they start you on?

My pdoc started me on 2mg. Never really experience this weird feeling before. I saw only one other fourm about where they felt a bit high/woozy on abilify. Hm. Maybe I'm just really over sensitive to meds

Maybe. That's not a very high dose. Just see how you feel after about a week, and see if the high feeling fades. Good luck!

Yes, Abilify is famous for the akathisia side effect. I have that myself.

I hope the Abilify works out. The nice thing about it is the lack of lots of extra weight gain. If I could exercise more I could probably lose some weight.
