I'm on Risperdal 2mg twice daily and it feels like I'm always hungry but never full. I've gained weight since starting it and my appetite has been hard to control. To complicate matters it's been found that I have high cholesterol and high triglycerides. To further complicate matters I'm on a waiting list to see a doctor and it's not looking like I'm going to see one anytime soon (I had to go to the ER for a refill 'script).

Anyone else have these problems? Any luck on Risperdal-like meds that don't cause the appetite issues?

Are you taking Risperdal for schizophrenia, or are you taking it for bipolar disorder? I can offer some less apatite stimulating options for both!

For suspected delusion disorder, but I've never been diagnosed.

I'm on Invega which is the active metabolite of Risperdal, I have gained a LOT of weight on it and am trying to lose it now. I also have high cholesterol and triglycerides. Does it help you with whatever you're taking it for?

Aripiprazole (brand name Abilify) might be an option for you. It's supposedly weight neutral more or less.

Ive been on on that med for years - After a few months I went from 86lbs to 125lbs now years later at almost 140 >_<

Lucky for me I am officially weaned off so the weight should come off.

Im on Abilify now - weight neutral for me.

Abilify and Geodon are weight neutral(geodon actually made me loose 20lbs in 3 weeks)

some drugs claim to be weight neutral - but some people will either still gain tons of weight, loss it, or not gain a pound. Everybody tolerates them differently.

GL Talk to your doc, he may have a better answer
