Has anyone else experienced this?

If I forget to take my daily dose (100mg) of pristiq the next day I feel awful. Lightheaded and dizzy, nausiated, sickly and weak. This has happened both times I have forgotten to take it. I'm also wondering if it's this bad forgetting just one dose what is it like withdrawing from it?

Any experience with either of these?

Thing with feathers, I am not on the medicines you are. However i forget to take my meds all the time. It messes my head up, causes dizzyness, sickness, wicked headaches, tired needing to sleep. It is not something you want to mess with. If you want to get off a medicine you need to cut them in half and do that for a few weeks, then cut that in half for a few weeks until you are off of them. I don't recommend that cause going off of some cold turkey can cause brain seizures and strokes. Please be considerate to your loved ones. In so doing you can create a medical situation that does not need to be. Please be careful and talk to your doctor first about what it is you do not like about your medicine and if there is a way you can change it. Blessings and tc
Thanks for this!

Skipping meds can play havoc with our stability.

I have forgotten to take my medications on a number of occasions. Some in the morning some at night some at dinner time........... sheesh. So finally somebody suggested that I get a blister/webster pack. My chemist/pharmacist makes if up for me. All my meds are sorted via each day and the time. I have found that using this method cuts my errors way down. (Not sure what you call these packs where you are but the person who sells you the meds should know.

If you are only taking one medication maybe you could put the pack in a place that you go to every day/morning so it will remind you to take it.
Thanks for this!

The withdrawal is pretty miserable. It has a really short half life - almost identical to Effexor XR - about 11 hrs, so yeah, it can definitely cause your symptoms and if you want to stop it, taper gradually and ideally go on something else while tapering.
Sorry you're so miserable.
Thanks for this!

Yeah, I just found out from the doctor that it is called discontinuation syndrome. I guess it's good that I know now rather than it just hit me when I do come off it.
Thanks for this!

There's no good way to discontinue pristiq! With the lowest dose being 50mg XR & that also being the therapeutic dose. I swapped to prozac with no days of missed meds with minimal concern. & really haven't noticed discontinuing 49mg Prozac cold turkey. Prozac is often used to help discontinue those more difficult ssri/snri's to cease. Just a thought for the future.

I hated pristiq, I hope it's working better for you.

Coming off prestiq is no fun at all and like others have said, it's really hard with 50mg being the lowest dosage. Just taking it slow and keeping in contact with your prescribing dr is very useful and especially when you get down to the 50mg stage.

I hope prestiq is working for you though and that you don't have to come off it anytime soon.

They now have a 25mg dose of Pristiq. I have been on it for about 2 months. My pdoc started me on the 25mgs because I have been having problems with my liver enzymes being extremely high. I now get blood work every 6 weeks. I go up to 50mgs this coming Monday.

I'm glad they finally have a 25mg dose of prestiq... but of course it had to come out after I was taken off it

I switched from 50mg of Pristiq to 150mg of Effexor without a taper. Pdoc said they're pretty much the same. I didn't have any problems. But missing a dose of some meds I feel ill.
