i have been growing increasingly concerned about the number of meds i take, for BPII and other conditions, and the health of the rest of my body, especially my liver. Everything goes through the liver. Over the years i have take a lot of different meds... right now i take:

lamictal
clonazepam
synthroid
cytomel
lyrica
losec

OTC meds include: aerius, sinutab, tylenol

i am supposed to be taking clomipramine and risperdal but i won't do it.

Does anyone know anything about the long term effects on the liver from any of these meds? Or even better, from the combinations of them?

do you get regular check ups at your docs, as you can have a blood test done to make sure you are on right does and no damage to your liver

I'd be happy to discuss specific liver effects with you, but I'm more concerned with the feel of your inquiry. Are you aware of any specific liver problems right now?

Unlike any other organ, the liver regenerates itself. Quite literally, the liver you have now is not the liver you had a decade ago. Provided there is not some specific pathology that interferes with the regenerative process, there's really not much to be concerned about. The liver's job is to process (detoxify) toxins. It's really quite good at doing so, without any attention from us.

P.S. I'm a toxicologist.

Have routine liver and kidney blood tests (tell your GP that it's to detect any liver/kidney problems due to your medications). I have a rountine liver and kidney blood test done annually.
