I discussed with my pdoc about wanting to go off of Zoloft for the sexual side effects. To be honest, I guess I've been fortunate in not having had a major depressive episode for quite some time.

Originally when I went off I was surprised by the fact that I didn't fall apart. I figured that the Zoloft might have been the medication keeping me from crawling under the covers and hiding.

But here's what I'm wondering now: Has anyone experienced more fogginess or confusion after going off?

I have ADHD and Bipolar. We even upped my Adderall and yet lately I feel like I can barely put two solid thoughts together. Granted, I'm in school for the first time in 25 years and I'm about to lose my job, but still. I just can't help but feel like I'm dazed and confused all the time.

Everything was working OK so I'm not scheduled to see her for a bit. I have a TON of Zoloft left so I can start back on it any time I want but before I do that, I just wanted to know if anyone else feels like they had the same experience.

Looking forward to your replies.

Of course your going to experience fogginess and confusion (along with other things) while coming off of Zoloft. I definitely think it's the Xanax and Adderall combo on top of discontinuing zoloft making you feel dazed and confused.

I use to take adderall, lamictal and xanax together and I have a bipolar 2 diagnosis. I never liked mood stabilizers.

I don't take the Xanax all the time.

People tell me I have a lot on my plate. I guess I do - back in school after 25 years, a layoff coming. Some might say it's to be expected that I'm unable to focus. That may be true, but it doesn't stop me from freaking out especially when I have a paper due and I'm reading material and it feels like I'm reading Greek.

i came off of 200mg zoloft... my brain is usually scrambled anyway though so the only thing i really noticed was just the brain zaps... it never helped my depression either though...

coming off med makes your brain go a little hectic for a little while though while its trying to adjust and compensate for the missing chemicals...

did it start when you started coming off the zoloft? what mg was you taking?
did you taper slow enough or cut back too fast? also the longer you are on it the more accustom your body is to having the chemicals...

hopefully soon it will subside and your mind will clear back up, you dont think its just from the added stress of school and problem at work do you?

Truly could be. I do have a lot going on. I just keep trying to figure out IS this worse? Like I said, I was sending an email to my boss the other day and I addressed it to myself. Plus I just keep spacing out and sometimes I can't even say I feel like I have anything on my mind.

have you recently changed any other meds?
increased the lamictal?
i know when i have more on my plate those adhd symptoms revv up seriously...

if you need an antidepressant still have you tried wellbutrin? its an NDRI and different from the ssri's and i think it has relatively low sexual side effects.. i think i've read that it actually increased sex drive in some?

they also use it sometimes for adhd so it may be a + +..?

im currently taking wellbutrin.. its ok, i asked for it instead of anything else because it seems to have less side effects for me

i think i've also read somewhere that too much adderal (adhd meds) can be bad thing and make adhd worse? but im not sure where i read that...

Haven't been on Wellbutrin. I was thinking they may not have suggested it b/c of the meds I am on. I also heard that it helps with sex drive so I kind of figured if they thought it was possible they would have prescribed it.

hmm you just on adderal trazodone lamictal and prn xanax?

i dont think it would interact with much.. i never took lamictal but... dont see where it would hurt...
it might synergize the adderal though since it is a NDRI

might be worth asking about

I had a really hard time coming off of Zoloft, but that will be the case with most SSRIs. I had to go realllllly slow because I got debilitating effects if I tried stopping cold turkey. Some of the things I experienced:

nausea (like stay in bed all day)
dizziness
weird sensations in the head (like my head was disconnected from my body)
neck pain
