I admit it. Right now I am in a dark place. Don't see a way out. Anxiety is making my life a misery. I even went to my Pdoc today as I got an emergency visit. We went through the long list of medications that I have been on. Some have done me no favours at all. Then he mentioned Latuda. I don't believe that I am bipolar or schizophrenic but I do display some odd bevhaviour at times. So he said for me to try Latuda and he would see me in a week. Here we start at 20mg at night.

I have read what is on the internet but I would love to hear from your experiences in regard to this medication. My p'doc seems to thing that it is weight neutral and that I may be able to go off the 50 mg of Seroquel at night.

Any feed back would be appreciated.

I've been on Latuda for almost a year now, and I really like it. Honestly, the only negatives about it are: If I don't eat enough before taking it I get nauseous and sometimes puke, and with my increased dose (60mg) I'm a bit agitated and instead of helping me fall asleep it makes it harder for me to fall asleep.
Thanks for this!

I find it difficult to take you should eat (350calories) when you take it. I'm trying to change my routine to take it at dinner instead of bedtime. It's hard though right now because I never know if/when dinner is going to happen. Otherwise it seems ok.

I've been on Latuda for about 2 months. I'm taking 60mg - hoping my pdoc will increase my dose on Friday when I see her. The Latuda helps my depression, though not remarkably. Interestingly, I was experiencing severe anxiety & the Latuda has helped more with the anxiety than with the depression.

One thing I will say is that Latuda is a "hot" med right now...apparently drug reps are pushing it a lot and MD's seem to be on it like a fly to *****.
Thanks for this!

Really? How interesting. My pdoc's been on the Latuda train for many years. I think she had me on it 3 years ago for a bit but I had to come off due to non-compliance (my ED was bad at the time, so I didn't eat with it and I'd puke or I just wouldn't take it at all).

Thanks for the feed back guys. I am pleased that it has worked four for some of you. Last night I didn't have any nightmares so that in itself is a bonus. I also had a better night's sleep too. How long does a p'doc wait until it gets increased to 40mg. Today my anxiety wasn't so off the chart either so here is hoping.

A few years back now I was on Tegretol for 3 days. I had the worst case of hives and that took a month to move out of my system. I am a little freaked that a rash will raise it's very ugly head on Latuda. Hopefully not.

I think I can manage a small bowl of cereal at night to help it be absorbed into my system. I have no idea what the caloric value is. Anything is better than an empty tummy tough. Does chocolate count?

Fingers crossed that my itchy skin will settle. Otherwise my p'doc will have a very unhappy person in his office.

Thanks friends.

I might have been on 20mg for a few days, but certainly not more than a week!

I must say that my anxiety has eased up. But my skin is still prickly and I hope it goes away soon. I still feel like a space cadet.

Latuda is a new medication where I live. My P'doc said it was weight neutral........ meaning that it doesn't stack the weight on like other meds. I really hope he is right.

It made me lose weight because it suppressed my appetite a lot at the beginning.

I haven't gained/lost any weight on Latuda, and I'm on 60mg. I take it for bipolar disorder.

The only problem I have with it is, it makes me sleep A LOT -- like 10 to 13 hours.

Otherwise, no side effects.

I was on 160 mgs and I loved it. It actually suppressed my appetite so I lost weight on it.

Thanks for letting me know that Latuda seems to be weight neutral.

My Seroquel has changed in appearance so I made a mistake last night and only took the latuda so sleep came about 5 hours later. Today I am teary and struggling........... Is Latuda one of those meds that take awhile like three weeks to get in to our system?

Depends on the person. Some people notice effects within a few days. Other people, it takes weeks.

My pdoc said, "it should take a week", but it took about 10 days for me... so a week and a half.

Week two on the Latuda in it has been increased to 40mg per night. It is not as weight neutral as I would like, but then maybe my body is adjusting itself from being taken off Lovan at the same time. It's a hard call seeing I am still on 50mg of Seroquel at night too. Maybe seroquel and latuda dont like sharing the same body. Anyhoo hoping I can get off the Seroquel and things will become clearer.

Fours weeks in and spots have shown up. I am unsure what to do. Wondering if the spots will go away on a permanent basis. I am also so irritable that I can't stand myself and the world around me. So sick of the meds.

Hm. That's strange...

I didn't see spots listed as a side effect of Latuda, but it's possible that Latuda is interacting with another drug and causing the spots. Either way, it sounds like you need to talk to your pdoc right away.

On another note, I did notice that Latuda can cause agitation. That's definitely listed as a side effect.

Hope you can figure out what your next steps are.
Thanks for this!

Thanks for responding bluebicycle and halliebeth. Most meds including good old penicillin give me spots. Even now I am itchy. But you are right when mentioning about interactions. Maybe Latuda and Seroquel just don't play nicely together.

I will mention it to my p'doc but he is away for the next 4 weeks so am unsure what to do. Maybe just keep on the same dose and see if they go away. I should know how my body is reacting by then and maybe things will clear up. Right now 4 weeks feels like a very long time.
