I stopped 15mg cold turkey after 6ish months...don't remember there being any withdrawals. I imagine 1mg shouldn't be a problem
Thanks for this!

I went off of Abilify. I don't recall what the dosage was. I didn't have any problems. But I also hadn't been on it very long. It made everything I ate taste metallic!

I was on 2 mg per day. My pdoc had me go down to 1 mg per day for a month, then just stop. I had no issues with that. Probably could have just stopped the 2 mg right away, but we were trying to see if the depression came back if I dropped to 1mg to decide whether or not I could stop the Abilify.

She has high func. autism & a mild cognitive impairment. We have tried MANY times to to take her off the drug... With no success... Probably due to her disabilities. I like your little quote!! So true too!!!

I wish it was that easy for her... We have tried MANY times. She has high func autism thoug which probably puts a damper on things

I did a slow taper from 5 mg to zero. Some folks suggest you take 2 years to taper off, even when on such a low dose.

Now that I am off it, I believe it dampened down both good and bad feelings. And it slowed me down.

I got off it because it was causing metabolic syndrome. Is your daughter suffering from side effects?

I went 10 mg-5 mg-2.5 mg. Approx 3-4 weeks a step, I think. I was taking it for psychotic suicidal depression, but I also have autism (Asperger's). I quit taking it because it didn't work. I didn't have any desired effects, no side effects, and no withdrawal symptoms.

Thanks for asking. Yes she is. Dizziness & headaches mostly & she has been complaining about her head always feeling up high. (she has had the head up high feeling for years) She doesn't have psychosis (we had her brain tested) Do you have any idea what the head up high feeling is?? Nobody can help us with that.

Thank you for sharing. I hope you are doing better now. Glad to hear you didn't have to deal with side effects. My daughter is taking it combined with Zoloft for depression. Aggression. Agitation.

Were you on Abilify to augment your antidepressant? If so, when you tapered off the Abilify, did your depression recur? I have heard some people say that augmenting with Abilify increased the effect of their SSRI and the benefits were maintained even after the Abilify was discontinued.

I tried to just take 20mgs from 25mgs but I get scared because I see psychosis looming in my background so I stopped doing that for two weeks.

Just 1mg can have that effect I guess what if you tried to edge in another drug for 1mg also and tapering that way?
