Can anyone here share personal positive and/or negative experience using cymbalta?

I have been prescribed cymbalta for help with my overwhelming generalized anxiety. Doc says it can take 3-4 weeks to kick in. He promised it will not cause weight gain . That's all the info I have on it so far. I'd love to hear personal experiences.

He has prescribed lorazepam (ativan) as that is much faster-acting than cymbalta. Said to take the ativan until the cymbalta kicks in.

The doctor shouldn't guarantee any med, 50/50 on weight gain, that will depend on your metabolism. Cymbalta being one of the newer types acts quickly, the doctor means - it may take 3-4 weeks to gain full effect. Same as many meds it's a matter of trial and error. Have you tried other anxiety meds?

I've been on Cymbalta for several months. It is the best med I've taken so far... I've been on Zoloft, Paxil, Buspar, Wellbutrin in the past.

It takes 3-4 weeks to take full effect, but you should notice some difference almost immediately.

As for weight gain, it probably depends on the individual, as drugs affect everyone differently. I've had no problems whatsoever with weight gain. If anything, it is a bit of an appetite killer for me.
