My fiance whom I am living with has OCPD and is not on medication. During past years he has tried antidepressants. He doesn't like the sexual side effects. I see that he has quickly changing mood changes in addition to his compulsions to order everything in the house. He will be really up laughing and acting silly and being hyper, then the next day be very down. He can't hold a job for long. I believe he may be bipolar. Do bipolars sometimes have OCD behaviors? What are the side effects of depakote?

I am diagnosed schizoaffective, which is a combo of both bipolar& schizophrenia. I have been on depakote. However, they thought I was allergic to it, because I began having symptoms, and itching all over. So, I don't really know the side-effects. I can tell you that he should DEFINITELY not drink on depakote. I had ONE drink, when I was first put on it, I was SO drunk, and extremely ill from it. As far as OCD & Bipolar, I have known people with both illnesses before. So, I would definitely say that there is a good possibility that he could be suffering from both. Hoped this helped some.
