Hi! I tried Parnate for a short time a few years ago, and am re-trying it as of 2 days ago. So far it's not too bad, but there is already some of the increased anxiety which I remembered from the first time and had expected.
Mainly I'm just looking for any experiences with Parnate in general, and also wondering if anyone has had a big increase in anxiety at the start that went away. I always have this problem with stimulating meds and it doesn't tend to go well, but Parnate's one of my very few choices so I'm hoping. I'm also pretty wary because of the fact that I went into a med-induced psychotic break a couple of years ago, and Parnate was (not the only factor, but) one of the meds involved. I don't want to be too watchful and end up mistaking side effects (or just lessening depression, e.g. sharper senses) for signs of psychosis, yet at the same time I'm asking myself if I may be an idiot for even trying it again. So, any experiences with it? Thanks! ![]() |

So far I've had some dizziness, nausea, fatigue, sleep issues, and a slight buzzed feeling for a couple hours after each pill, as well as still increased anxiety.
(just to update...also bumping this for any answers) |

Hope it's alright if I bump this to the first page again.
Still side effects and feeling so weird. Stupidly, the side effect that's kind of worrying me most, other than anxiety, is the crazy additional hair loss I've been having. Just after I gave in and finally lowered my lamictal dose to help with that. ![]() |

hi. I don't know much about MAOI drugs. Maybe Nardil instead of Parnate? I think Nardil is supposed to be the anti-anxiety one.
There was a small study that showed that "California Rocket Fuel" was as effective as Parnate, but more tolerable (and safer). Effexor+remeron. I hope things work out for you. Did your doctor prescribe anything to help you simmer down as you start the Parnate? Back in the day, doctors would use the old school antipsychotics/tranquilizers. I don't know what to tell you about the hair loss. I'm male and had the hormon-driven hair loss plus some drug induced stuff. Mine got better with high dose b-complex, vitamin C, and vitamin E, plus a ton of biotin in the mix. I also take green tea extract and black tea extract, which seem to help. |

Have you tried nioxin for hair loss? Also biotin and selenium (I was told to take centrum silver b/c it has those ingredients)? I haven't tried parnate. I was going to last year but didn't because of insurance.
