I've been "caffeine free" now for almost a month, but have been stopping by my local convenience store to get a large decaf on the way home from work. Last night (Saturday), I began having the familiar caffeine headache! I think they are putting reg coffee in the decaf container! My daughter, who worked at many restaurants while in college, told me they sold all regular coffee and told the customers it was decaf if it was requested! One reason business may do this is because decaf is much more expensive.
I'm nursing my headache which I went to bed and then woke up with! I'm pretty sure I've been unknowingly indulging in regurlar coffee caffeine fix after work each day because of the excessive boost of energy and trouble going to sleep each work night. NO more of that!

I don't think convenience stores would switch since they can charge whatever and they go through so many pots of coffee daily; they'd lose customers if they regularly did that but I could see a convenience store clerk not caring and just grabbing a package of whatever. I'd find another place to get my coffee, that's horrible having to go through the headaches again.

Thanks, Perna! Well, it sure feels like a caffeine headache! but it could be something else, I guess.
I worked really hard outside in the sun yesterday most all day, and am very sore and tired as well as the headache.

That's weird - decaf isn't any more expensive than regular at the grocery store. I don't know why they'd do it for that reason.

But I don't drink caffeine either, so I should say that for that reason, I don't get coffee at convenience stores.

Good luck with it!

Grrr.
I think the chemicals in the decaf are worse than the drug of caffeine! Decaffeinated coffee in restaurants, etc....

Direction.... I am thinking my weekend-long headache may have been due to allergies also, after having spent the day outside Saturday. I've been overhearing a lot of people complaining of allergies right now, so that is probably the culprit!

Sky...caffeine is bad for me, but you are probably right about the chemicals used to decaffeinate.
