For those who have been or are on Cogentin (for tremor) what are your experiences? I know everyone is different, but I'm trying to discern possible side-effects. Thanks

Hi,

I took Cogentin with Abilify several years back in an attempt to counteract the tremors and some related side effects that I was getting from the Abilify. In addition to noticing blurred vision and dry mouth with the Cogentin, I struggled a lot more than usual with keeping my train of thought than I usually do, which is something that's a big enough problem for me as it is, even without medications that worsen this problem. I recall giving Cogentin (in addition to the Abilify that I ended up staying on for some time) about a week before discontinuing it.

As you probably know, you might not necessarily notice the same side effects from Cogentin that I experienced, or if you do notice some or all of the side effects that I experienced with Cogentin, the intensity of the side effects might be different for you. But the above paragraph describes my experiences with Cogentin.

Take care, and good luck with Cogentin if you're taking it or will take it.

Thanks for your reply, shadow2000. I appreciate it. I've been taking a small, occasional amount of Cogentin since early autumn. Pdoc increased my Latuda, which seems good, but I do have a tremor that has become worse. So I'm thinking of increasing my Cogentin. I hate taking yet another medication just to treat the side-effects of an initial med, so I'm hoping to get a few replies about people's Cogentin experiences.
Thanks for this!

Dry mouth is the only thing I ever noticed and that wasn't bad. My pdoc tried to keep my dose as low as possible to avoid side effects (probably constipation as I struggle with that badly already).

I tried Cogentin and it didn't help. I already have dry mouth so I wouldn't have noticed the Cogentin doing that. I'm on Artane now and it works fine.

Thank you, Fharriage. I've never heard of Artane. What is it for?
