Last year i developed food allergy, mostly from dairy. so i stopped eating it. and i was okay. a month after that i started seroquel 50 mg for sleep. and i started taking probiotic to hopefully heal my allergy. and a couple of months after taking it i started eating dairy, little by little. and guess what, i felt perfectly okay after eating it. no signs of itching or hives. so i have been eating dairy regularly as a part of my diet ever since then. I attributed my healing to the proboitics. But a couple of days ago i switched meds, went on ambien, which apparently does not have anti histamine properties. and i started feel itching again. and now im on doxepin since ambien was just a temporary aid for me. and the itching has disappeared again. turns out doxepin too has anti histamine properties. so im wondering, did my " so called healing of food allergy was really just a hoax"? and my psych meds were masking my allergy symptoms giving me an illusion of wellness. Offcourse im getting the food allergy test tomorrow, i'll know for sure when i get the results. But in the mean time, have any one else experienced something like this? any thoughts, suggestions are most welcome and much appreciated.

I have not experienced anything like what you've described, but I think it's entirely possible that your meds helped stop your allergic reaction.

Seroquel Is a funky drug 100mg and below it's a heavy duty anti histamine at much higher doses it has its antipsychotic effect , for sleep problems Seroquel is contraindicated just as all anti psychotics are the AASM released a paper about 1.5 years ago telling Physicians to stop treating insomnia that way because antipsychotic medications causes negative changes in the sleep cycle ( circadian rhythm) and sleep architecture, Doxepin is a failed antidepressant from many years ago that has been studied extensively in sleep labs and has positive effect on sleep it has been repatened as Silenor for sleep . Almost all psychotropic medication has an antihistanergic effect in its profile simply because all psychotropic are based off antihistamines. Get Your allergy test! Food allergies are very prevalent and annoying.

Seroquel has a paradoxical effect, as my doctor described. At lower dosages, it largely affects the histamine receptors in the brain and does therefore cause drowsiness.
Like Seroquel, a number of psychiatric drugs have this effect at lower dosages, whereas at higher dosages, other receptors are affected.
