Which would be a better medication to turn to: Lithium or Risperdal? Or should I
consider Pristiq?

I'm currently on Effexor XR 150 mg once daily and Seroquel 300 mg twice daily.

Last week, I called my psychiatrist's office and he was out but I told his receptionist that I've been feeling incredibly depressed the past two weeks and told her that one of my meds must've stopped working. I think the Effexor XR stopped working.

Well...You have three different types of meds your considering. One is an ssri (pristiq). One is a mood stabilizer (Lithium), and risperidone is an A- typical anitpsychotic or neuroleptic.

All three from what i know are used for depression, bipolar, schizophrenia and ASD.
You could start with a new ssri and see how that works, If it doesn't work then move on to one of the other meds., but i would ask your DR and see what they recommend though.

Good luck

I found Risperdal to be absolutely hopeless. It stopped racing thoughts but its nowhere near as good as Seroquel, Zyprexa and if you can handle it clozopine.

I'd start with trying Pristiq. Its got a more favorable adverse effect profile than the others. If Pristiq fails, talk to your doctor about where to go from there.

I don't much care for risperidone. Its OK, its not as bad as Haldol, but I think there are other, better drugs ((for me)).

Lithium and risperidone are both used by me and were a huge help.

I did good with Pristiq. Start there as there's less side effects and adverse effects than lithium and risperdal.

I think pristiq is a SNRI.
