While I was in IP I was given restoril for sleep, however I also had this prescription since late 2015. When I was being discharged the doctor advised I shouldn't take this long term because it can be linked to memory loss. I have been on this drug for almost two years! My memory has been questionable, for years but it was worse when I was on lamictal. After coming off of that, it's been "better." Has anybody had such an experience linked to this med?

No but I really only use it now as needed maybe twice a week at the most.

No. I've taken it for a few years with no noticeable side effects

What was the question again? Seriously, though, I take restoril nightly. I never gave memory loss much thought, so it's not likely a problem for me.

long term benzodiazepine use did cause memory and other cognitive problems for me during treatment and for a while after the (hellish) taper. I was mostly on daytime Klonopin, but I was on Restoril and also some 'z' hypnotics (ambien, sonata) during much of the time, so I imagine those drugs contributed at least somewhat.

i do think your mileage may vary, but...especially with sleeping pills, its always a good idea to keep your use as minimal as possible, if you can.
