I have two meds for anxiety, Xanax and Inderal. The Xanax is 0.5 mg tablets and the Inderal is 10 mg tablets. I was prescribed 3 tablets of each a day and was taking them all but I was slurring my speech so the doctor said take less. So now taking about 1 mg Xanax and 10 mg Inderal a day instead of 1.5 mg and 30 mg. Anyway, my question is, can I occasionally take half a pill of each, 0.25 mg Xanax and 5 mg Inderal at the same time? This would really only be once a week before talking about traumatic memories in therapy and once in a while on really bad days. Or should they be spaced apart? I'll ask my doctor when I see her but that's not for 3 more weeks so I was wondering what to do in the mean time.

You can always take less xanax. As a matter of fact less is better only take what you need.

I usually only take what I need. Sometimes it seems I need more than I'd like to be taking.

I have found that since going on Inderal, it is a "healthier" med for me than Xanax. Xanax makes me stoned and sleepy. Inderal stops my hyperventilation and heart palpitations without the loopiness of Xanax. I now only take Xanax if my anxiety is at a 10 or I'm going to the dentist. I take both drugs only as needed.

You don't have to wait until you see her to ask. Why don't you call her office and leave a message with her nurse? You should get a response back within a couple days

Thank you everyone! I'm aware Inderal is the healthier med. Saw endocrinologist yesterday and told her about my dizziness and she's afraid Inderal is dropping my blood pressure. I see my pdoc next week now. My pdoc doesn't have a nurse, it's just her and a secretary who seems to just schedule appointments and not have any medical training.
