Hi all.
I am using 0.5 mg Xanax on a prn basis. With the use of Xanax, as well as the fact that I have used other benzos in the past, I worry that I am going to develop a tolerance. (even though I do not use it daily) I find that there is not a 'kick in' feeling where I can say "that is the pill working". Perhaps it does not have to 'hit me' to be working. Perhaps it is a worry I have that is for nothing, or can one be susceptible to developing a tolerance faster than it takes on the average patient?

My body got used to 1mg doses after a mere 3 months, and I now take 2mg doses as needed. Usually at least 3 times a week, on bad weeks up to 5. You can definitely develop a tolerance so be aware of that.

When I was admitted to hospital they gave me a very small dose of xanax and it did nothing. I advised them that I normally took a larger dose of a benzo as per my prescription from my p'doc.
I agree our brains can become very tolerant to this medication. It doesn't have to hit you in order for it to work. But it would be good it you found it was helpful. If that is not the case please check back in with your doctor and have a chat with them about possible alternatives. |

Yes some people build tolerances quicker than others.
