I am on a lot of meds and I read about how long term they can effect you and some of mine exceed the highest dose, I was wondering if anyone knew if they were too high? I know you are not doctors, but I am asking like anyone that has had experience with these meds to just give some advice.

These are the totals I take every day, but some are spread out throughout the day.

Citalopram - 60mg
Depakote - 1,000mg (He wants to go up to 1,500)
Buspar - 90mg
Propranolol - 80mg
Trazodone - 100mg
Latuda - 25mg (this is gonna be increased)

I also take Fish Oil 3,000mg.

I am on a stomach med too, but that isn't anything to worry about and isn't the point of this post. The point is I am scared of what these meds might be doing to me.

i think the celexa is kinda high...the fda reviewed data on celexa, and high doses can do something not so great to the heart. i thought they'd recommended capping doses at 40mgs, but i could be wrong.

the buspar is kinda high, but its not a controlled substance and some people do well on higher doses (this according to a former shrink, who also said that she was 'not impressed' by buspar...).

depakote doses should be adjusted based on blood work. i dropped depakote after a "standard dose" resulted in nearly toxic blood levels. just not worth it, for me.

i think the latuda could be a lot higher, but with other drugs on board, you might want to check into drug-drug interactions. antidepressants, in particular, can increase the blood levels of tranquilizers/antipsychotics, so although you're only taking 25mgs, the drug-drug interactions could be resulting in the equivalent of a higher dose.

i don't know much about propranolol or trazodone. trazodone doses vary wildly...my concern would be that the combined effect of all your psych drugs would be too much sedation and emotional flattening/numbing, but...I'm clearly not an expert or anything like that.

OK. hope this helps.
Thanks for this!

Dosage is definitely something you need to review with your pdoc because it is such a case-by-case situation. If you lack confidence in your pdoc's prescribing, speak with another pdoc.
Thanks for this!

I used to take 60 mg of Buspar/Buspirone and I thought that was the highest dose. I know that it's high dose. I used to take 200 mg of Trazadone, 100 mg 2 tabs at bed time for sleep I took 100 mg of Trazadone before that.

1500 mg depakote is the highest amount you should take. I wouldn’t recommend going over 100 mg trazadone, unless you are having difficulty sleeping. Don’t know about the rest.

The buspar seems high but ultimately it's between you and your pdoc.

Higher doses can be used depending on blood level. I didn't process depakote well and was on 3000 mg to get me to therapeutic level.
