Question please

been on wellbutrin 450 for around a year, provigil just three weeks. Exhausted after 2 weeks on provigil. Stopped provigil and felt ill still, nauseous and exhausted. Decided to taper off wellbutrin as well over 2 weeks. Still feel terrible. Been off wellbutrin only around 5 days now.
Feel nauseous and sleep much still. Usually get this every January really bad for around 4 weeks. Almost feeling as bad as I do in January. Feeling bad since oct. 15

All started week after addition of provigil and effexor [[only took 6 days]].

Does wellbutrin usually have withdrawal effects. Have stopped it before without any problems.

Does anyone experience nausea with depression. My docs have never seen it they say....gets bad in cycles throughout the year.

My brain can't seem to write this any less confusing...sorry, have tried. provigil and wellbutrin XL

Thank you for any input provigil and wellbutrin XL

Hi nana98, I was on provigil and wellbutrin for a long time. Occasionally, I would stop my meds and experience extreme fatigue and some nausea. Generally, the provigil and wellbutrin helped with the fatigue but would cause a bit of nausea when I first started taking it.

I experience nausea with depression because my anxiety also goes up when I am depressed.

Just want to thank you for your reply and welcome.
I get strange symptoms, every few weeks cycle with fatigue and nausea for years. Symptoms don't last long, 3-4 days until Feb. Then 5-6 weeks straight last 5 years in a row and last 2 yrs getting more severe in fall also.
Need to go south, summer comparatively speaking I do great.

After a lot of 'thinking' realized 'cycles' have got more frequent with wellbutrin. Was put on it for SAD but didn't work anyway last winter along with light. Was honestly better without meds. I was energized and motivated before;I was just seeking help to solving mystery of cycles of nausea and fatigue [[20 plus yrs]] when doc sent me to pdoc cause he said I was depressed which is why I was feeling like this in Feb.

Long story short these cycles are now considered depressed cycle. BUT every pdoc I have seen says I have strange symptoms of mood disorder and last 2 said I have bipolar 2. Honestly I'm perplexed that docs say they never see cycles like mine, so I'm not even sure what I have; I don't think they do either. Seriously don't think anyone knows what to do or what is really wrong with me.

I would rather go back to feeling good in between these episodes instead of blah all the time, which is what meds do now. Originally just wanted to 'check off' another 'test' so I wouldn't miss so much work. Have had every 'physical' test come back fine. Then this nightmare of meds came about with bipolar dx. and 3 yrs later feeling worse instead of better.

provigil and wellbutrin XL I know I confused myself reading it....my life provigil and wellbutrin XL

Hi nana, after being on the provigil for some time, it stopped working and the nausea and fatigue came back. My pdoc put me on a low dose of dexedrine. Dexedrine is an addictive med so you have to be careful with it, but it has really helped me. Now, I feel almost normal...with no nausea, fatigue or depression. I am not a pdoc so I can't really say if it would help you or not. It's just what I have tried.

My doctor told me you had to taper down with welburtin. I was on provigil and they just stopped it right a way as it didn't seem to be working very well anyway, I didn't have any problems.

Greeting Nana and Welcome,

My pdoc put me on Wellbutrin along with the Cymbalta that I already took. I have excessive daytime sleepiness (Chronic Fatigue). I have anxiety disorder, too. At the time, I was feeling alot of stress and my anxiety went through the roof. He said that the combination of the antidepressants could be adding to the anxiety but did not mention the Provigil I take. He had me stop the Wellbutrin which I think was giving me more energy.

Anyway, I find that I have really no relief from fatique with Provigil. He has me taking a triple dose and it still doesn't work.

I think that you need to be on a different stimulant, especially as you are experiencing side effects.

Can you take Ritalin or one of the Ritalin containing meds? I bet that one of those would work better for you but Ritalin can cause stomach distress.

Concerta with Ritalin really helped me in the past and helped me focus and concentrate at work (ADD). Maybe your pdoc will give one of the Ritalin containing meds, specifically the extended release forms a try.

Take Care,
Peacemaker (Sherri)

Nana,

I did mean to mention that discontinuing Wellbutrin generally causes no problems. I stopped taking mine cold turkey but don't recommend it as everyone is different.

As for SAD, a guy at work has it and said that he would lie in tanning beds in the winter months and received relief.
