Hi. I usually don't come to this forum, but I need some insight.

Recently (past 2 months) since my psychiatrist upped my dosages of Fluoxetine (Prozac) and Quetiapine (Seroquel), I've been sleeping through the night and am much less depressed.

BUT...sigh...

I think I am experiencing Tardive dyskinesia, and it's freaking me out. I don't see my pdoc until April 12th, although I do see my T on April 11th. But I don't think I can wait that long. I've done a little reading/research (my downfall: I almost always hit the books, internet, etc., before I actually discuss stuff with medical people), and what I've found is kind of scary.

Has anyone here experienced Tardive dyskinesia, and, if so, please tell me everything: how it affects/affected you, whether your medication dosages were lowered, treatment, etc. I feel I am affected socially and at work. TIA.

Wellbutrin did it ages ago. I had to quit taking it, which was a good idea anyway.
Abilify also did it after taking it for several years. I stopped talking abilify on my own and my doctor said he was both mad and glad about it.

Upping your Meds could definately cause that if you are prone to this. I can’t take more than 150 mg of Seroquel or I get what I call “full body restless legs.” Talk to your doc right away. It can become permanent if it drags on too long.

I have bradykinesia from Abilify.

Bradykinesia is slow movement, including slow facial expressions. This goes away when dose is decreased and/or med is discontinued.

You can search the internet for a definition/description of TD.
This usually involves involuntary and repetitive facial/tongue movements.

I hope you are okay.

I developed a severe tremor from Latuda, was taken off of it, and the tremor went away in about 3 weeks.

What are the symptoms you're concerned about?
Thanks for this!

This is just the kind of thing you can call your psychiatrist about now. You don't have to wait until your appointment.
Thanks for this!

My speech is affected: I stutter and stammer. Parts of my body move, twitch, flail, and none of that is under my control.

I agree with Wonderfalls. You need to contact your pdoc.

By the way, there are videos on youtube that give examples of what TD looks like. It was somewhat helpful to me to watch those videos when I was concerned about having TD.

I looked at some TD youtube videos, and it was like looking in a mirror. :-(

I saw my Pdoc today. He doesn't think I have TD. BUT he thinks I'm on too much medication. Dosages have been changed, and I am hopeful that I will feel better soon. Thanks for all your responses.

Hi, I'm also on Latuda. Started 6 months ago at 60mg. TD started after 3 months. Lowered to 40mg and it is still there but not as severe. How did you taper down Latuda. I heard scary stuff about coming off it, especially from 20mg to zero. Thanks
