Well to keep a long story short, I've been having troubles with nightmares since, well, june of this year or so. So I dont get much more sleep then maybe 5 hours each night.
Someone suggested amytriptilline, anyone got any experiences with it? Or maybe with another good med that could help? I'm 14 though so I'm not allowed to have everything.

Thanks,

Blue

It's a heavy duty antidepressant, sometimes given to kids your age for migraines? It's sedating though which I assume might help keep down the dreams (sedating drugs do that to me).

After my car accident they gave me amytripiline (however you spell it!) and it gave me violent nightmares. They gave it to me to calm me because I as so injured. I've never taken it again because of the nightmares. If you are experiencing nightmares on any drug tell your Dr. ASAP. Sometimes they can be dangerous. Take Care

I quit taking amitryptyline two weeks ago becuase of a bad side effect. One good thing about it was that it helped with the nightmares. I still had them. But they were nothing compared to what they were before taking it.

Now im taking nortriptyline and that is also helping the nightmares. I'm able to get better rest. STill only get about 4-5 hours of sleep a night. But i dont wake up every 20 living a nightmare.

I was given Trazodone first for sleeping. That was horrible for me. That made my nightmares worse.

I hope you find a med that stops those mares. I feel for ya. Good luck with it.
