Well I think it all depends on the individual response to the medication. I'm on Lexapro and a few other meds and I keep losing weight, which is pretty good. I was at 250 and now I'm down to 210.

I don't think one med is better than another, it's just how you individually react to it that matters.

I was on Lexapro and Welbutrin, and I had no problem with increased appetite. Now that they added Eskalith I have a larger appetite... although I guess it's not too bad since I wasn't eating enough as it was, and I'll be getting good exercise soon.

If it's helping your mood, you may just have to set an amount of food you can eat and refuse to allow yourself to eat more than that even if you're still hungry. Might help if you can space out how much you want to eat in a day, and try to eat more filling foods when you do.

I had no problem with it, in fact, I'm going back on it.

I've gained 30 lbs on elavil and am tapering off of it. I was considering Lexapro. I researched last night and practically every AD made has the side effect or weight loss and weight gain. I think there is no magic bullet. The elavil keeps me from having panic attacks, so what do I do? I can't carry the added weight..more panic.....the old double-edged sword......
