I had a mug of stress relief tea this morning. It was the brand Yogi. I’ve also taken 4 Valium throughout the day. All day I’ve had severe anxiety and nausea and nothing I do take or eat is helping my anxiety or stomach issues. I can’t think of anything that is majorly stressing me out at this moment that would cause this type of anxiety.

I googled it but I couldn’t find much. Are herbal supplement teas bad when you combine psych meds? I have no problem with other types of teas. Just the stress relief one.

I’ve just been really anxious and like I’ve had a stomach bug all day.

I'm not sure of the other ingredients, but it does have Kava root in it. I don't know if this would cause what you experienced with it, but kava is pretty dangerous for the liver. It does work a little like a benzo, but I would definitely avoid it. It might not be in high enough concentrations to cause problems, but still. Better to be safe than sorry.

It seems like too much tea in general causes issues for me. I’ve been trying to switch from soda and it’s been strange. I’ve been drinking herbal tea lately. Mainly one called Tension Tamer. And after the 2nd mug I feel off. I do ok with black tea despite the high amounts of caffeine.

It’s just weird.

But I’ve been avoiding supplemental tea and I haven’t had that intense of anxiety

I'm not super familiar with that particular tea, but I know I can't drink certain teas because I'm on valium/a benzo and they have stuff like st. john's wort and valerian root in it. Look up the ingredients and see if there's an interaction with your meds.

Kava doesn't usually mesh well with benzos. I read it in this anxiety workbook I have. If the tea you have is Yogi Stress Relief (I can't remember exactly what it's called), it has Kava in it. I also remember reading that Kava used on its own is not a good treatment for anxiety, although it can provide some relief in the short-term. There's also l-theanine. That's like a supplement though so check with your doctor first before taking it.
