Does anyone take it? If you, for what? Is it effective? And what about side effects?

I tried it a couple times for opioid and alcohol cravings. It was effective, I'd say. I'd still want to use, but I didn't go crazy getting ahold of whatever it was (first time I tried was more opioids, second alcohol). It left me feeling pretty depressed though, but maybe that was just not being high or drunk and actually feeling shyt. I don't know. I also had a lot of headaches.

When I tried it the first time at 50 mg, it made me depressed and I stopped. Now at 25 mg it slows me down but not to the point of depression. Rather, in a sweet spot. I do get headaches now but they are getting less frequent. I hope they will go away. I have read that they might.

I am taking it in hopes of lessening hunger panga

I used to take it for alcohol cravings, and honestly it didn't do much for me. No side effects though.

No weight change, either?

My Dr lied to me last year and said "It's not really a medication". It's a heavy duty med for opioid users and causes depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, bad headaches, tiredness, you shouldn't operate machinery and much more!! So I complained about him and got banned from all practices around here!

What were you on it for? It doesn't prevent withdrawal symptoms, just the desire to use (or drink), so of course if you stop, especially cold turkey, you're going to feel depressed, suicidal, anxious, and physically sick regardless of being on the med or not. Not that those can't be side effects as well (I know first hard they are because I tried it before/to prevent relapsing and had some of that but not as bad as it could have been), but either time they go away as you adjust like most long-term psych meds which, find me a psych med that hasn't caused SI or tiredness in someone or doesn't say "find out how this medication affects you before operating heavy machinery." Beats finding out the "oxycodone" you got had fentanyl and xylazine in it.

Took it for OCD one of my many disorders. Gave me a massive headache and stopped it. I have at least 6 disorders which can't be helped. Meds and ECT do nothing and have almost killed me. I complained about my last Dr and now I'm banned from all practices around here and DE!

Ah, yeah, I'm pretty sure naltrexone is for addictions esp. opioids, not obsessions/compulsions. No wonder it sucked for you--you got all side effects because any "benefit" wouldn't have benefited you. Like giving someone who's paralyzed a painkiller kinda.

I was depressed on it when I tried it 6 years ago, but now at half of that old dose, I am just fine.
