I am on my first week of 50mg of Zoloft and I am feeling anxious, restless, and racing thoughts. I know this is common when starting but I do not think I can continue until it starts working and I am worried it never will. My doctor also wants to increase it to up to 200mg but this is hell to have to feel this horrible every time it is increased.

What if it does not work. My life depends on it. Any suggestions or anyone have a similar experience?

I think everyone is different in how they react to meds.

I first had Zoloft in 2016, no issues at all. Got it again in 2020 and I got very edgy like you described, I stopped it. In my case I did okay without it.

Keep in touch with your doctor or pharmacist about this, I’d be cautious, especially if you haven’t had it before. Under 25s particularly can react badly to Zoloft I’ve heard. I don’t know if that applies to you.

I’ve been on Zoloft for a while, and it’s been life-changing, but I completely understand what you’re going through—it’s tough at first. For me, the initial side effects (like anxiety and restlessness) started easing up around 2–3 weeks, and by 4–6 weeks, I really began noticing the positive effects.

Hang in there and give it some time—this rough patch is common but temporary. If it feels unbearable, speak to your doctor about possibly adjusting the dose or starting slower to ease the transition.

You’re stronger than you think, and it does get better!

Psych meds are a huge scam! I've taken every drug since 1989 and tons of shock treatment and they do nothing and almost killed me several times.
I asked a Dr how much she knew about mood disorders and she said "Not much". So all these Drs I've seen last 40 years have been lying to me!
