How to do I get meds?

I'm over 60 years old, not eligible for welfare or medicare or social security. I'm out of work and in debt.

I'm not yet diagonosed for bipolar. Though it's obvious I am, to me at least. Is it possible to diagnosed for free and then received therapy and the meds?

I live in New York. What is the right path to get diagnosed, if you can't afford the pay for diagnosis? I'm assumming after diagnosis I might be able to get reduced-cost meds or free meds. And perhaps be declared having a disability.

Napoleon, are there any free clinics you can go to, for low income people? We have a couple of clinics like that in the heart of my city. Maybe you could call up a hospital and ask if there are any clinics like this in your area.

Best of luck.

Free Medical Clinics in New York

Here is what they mean by a free medical clinic:
</font><blockquote><div id="quote"><font class="small">Quote:</font>
What do we mean by Free Clinics
(Free Medical Clinic/Free Dental Clinics) ?

* Where one can get free medical help .

* Some of the listings we have do charge very little fee.

* Some places they ask you for small donation. We still list them Free Medical clinicss/Clinics as they are almost free.

There is one listing which ask for $20.00 per visit. We considered listing them, we made a note in the listing that they charge. As long as we see a motive towards helping people who are in need of medical help we consider them Free Clinics (We agree that we are going away from "Free") but we know their effort is worth lot more to lots of people.

* Some are for low income people, some are for homeless

* Some only serve the local community residents.

* Some Clinics are specific to HIV treatment etc. (We list them as well)

What are the other sources?
* Consider your local county Health Department

* Religious organizations and charities.

* Doctors/Nurses organizations .

* Searching the internet.

Thanks. I've left more than few messages at clinics. Most appear as run arounds. Though too early to tell.

Some answers available. Mostly going to the Bellevue Hospital Walk-In clinic.

I will check it out.
