i took klonopin about 2 years ago for my gad and social anxiety. i was on it for about 6 months, but i can't even remember how it made me feel, or if anything was actually different. But i have been on so many different medications got frustrated and gave up that is probably why i have a hard time remembering what did what. or like you said, maybe i am unable to remember because that is a side effect i am not really sure. i am going to see a different psychiatrist Tuesday and i intend on talking to him about kolonopin and ativan. hopefully he can look in my records and help me to remember. I don't know if this helps, hope it does.

I just started to take it again...I was supposed to be taking it the whole time but me and my brain farts forgot to call in the refill. Any way I took it the other night and promptly fell asleep and the phone was right next to my head and mind you the ringer on my phone is loud and obnoxious and I didn't hear it ring any of the 3xs it rang. I am not going to take it now until right before I am ready to go to sleep. I made someone unneccessarily worry about me. It has worked wonders though I have been in a couple of situations that without the klonopin would have me crawling up the walls and I wasn't.

Long-term use can cause memory problems. You are on a small dose if that's any consolation. You won't forget everything!

It is highly addictive which is a bummer. I would suggest you talk to your doc about off-label use of Neurontin. It worked for me without any side effects or addiction problems.
Best,
Okie

I take .5 mg twice a day........has made a major improvement in my
anxiety...my psychiatrist told me it is not addicting as most people think and said when I wanted to quit he had a procedure for doing so....I have had no side effects and no memory loss....everybody reacts differently to medications....

I too have taken klonapin .5mg on and off for 15 years. When I really have my bad anxiety, I take one. It helps me so much, lets me rest and actually get some sleep at night.
I have never forgotten anything while on it, and held down a job for many years while taking it everyday.

Hi Brian,
I hate to contradict your MD, but he is incorrect. Benzodiazapines are highly addictive. He is correct in telling you there is a correct way to safely titrate off of them. Good for him!
Take care,
Okie
