I've been on Lexapro 2 and a half weeks. A couple of times lately i've noticed I hear things that aren't there.. like a tv that isn't on or i'm dozing off and hear someone come in but no one is there...

Its starting to freak me out and i'm wondering if its the meds...

I suffer depression, ocd, anxiety, but have never heard things before...

I never had that as a side effect with Lexapro -

If it was me I would check with my doctor just to be on the safe side.

I would be freaked out too.

<font color="green"> </font> Hi nicole84,
i have been taking lexapro a very long time-- since it came out here in the usa to replace celexa 6 years or so ago. i take 30 mg a day which is alot but i am a big guy. i can assure you that hearing things is not a side effect of lexapro because i am very sensitive to side effects. i think hearing things is prolly a symptom of your illness. i myself have heard things before having a psychotic break. so i think you better tell your doctor about it emphatically. i am on a low dose of haldol to prevent me from hearing hallucinations. that might be the way for you to go too. http://forums.psychcentral.com/images/icons/help.gif

That is not a typical side effect. I would consult your doctor right away. I also have a list of medications that could have hallucinations as a side effect (from a schizophrenia book I have, as I am studying it for my internship) and Lexapro was not on the list. Ask your doctor what's going on.

it takes a few weeks for lexapro to start working. its not automatic you will feel side effects from SSRIs before you feel the benefits. please dont quit. please tell your T what is going on.
