I've taken Ativan in the past with Effexor and now take clonazapam with it. They're all in the same class. But if you're worried about drug interactions check with your Dr. or pharmacist.

ty the pharmacist told me it would be ok... but to check with my med doc... i spoke with her nurse and she said it might be too much with the sedative in the effexor but she would check with the doctor... she hasn't called back it's been several days.... Effexor-XR i guess it didn't take priority with her ... if you haven't had a panic attack you don't get how hard they can be...lyn

the past few mornings i have woken up with really dry eyes... and am still getting that prickly feeling... that triggers panic attacks... or i am waking in a panic attack... is this a side effect of the effexor?... i have a really hard time getting return calls from my med doc... and have an appointment next month ... but this is really uncomfortable... also the other day at work when i stood up my leg felt like it was jello... not asleep... just didn't seem to want to support me... it went away really quickly... has anyone had this happen?

i am thinking my med doc is going to want to increase the dose because he said that 75 isn't usually a high enough dose for anxiety... there has been improvement in my anxiety... until this past week.and i am dealing with several crisis' that are bigger then me... but i really wanted to stay at this dose... so i had hopes that i could come off of it

I'm having a big problem with nausea. It's been over 3 weeks on 75 mg and it is not getting better. I'm wondering if I need to give it more time perhaps?

i am just past that mostly... some days it's back... but not like it was... i have been on 75 for awhile and i am pretty sure my med doc will want to increase me when i see him on the 15th... not sure i am too thrilled with that.

I've never totally gotten over the nausea. That and dizziness. They both kind of hit me about 4-5 hours after I've taken it. And I've been on it for years. I've just learned to live with it. But I take 375 mg a day.

Yes, but I never associated it with the effexor before. Didn't know that was a possible side effect. To be honest I've been on it for a number of years now, and so some of what were side effects when I first started it, have just become normal for me now.

I know this isn't what you're asking, but just a warning....be careful when you stop this med - it has the absolute WORST withdrawal symptoms of any anti-depressant. Take it slow. Trust me....

I was only on it for 5 weeks so I don't remember a lot of the side-effects...except for the withdrawal!!!

thank you for the warning... i went off my wellbutrine slowly but on my own... then i had a really bad set back in january so i promised my med doc that i wouldn't go off it without talking to him first... and with his help...but he didn't tell me why... if he had i might not have started this one... lyn

I have taken almost every type of antidepressant made over the past 24 years and when the doctor asked me which one worked the best, I said Nardil. That's an MAOI which has all those dangerous food interactions. So, she got creative and gave me Effexor XR, a tiny dose of Provigil (prescribed for narcolepsy) and an extra shot of straight T3. She was trying to "immitate" Nardil. It pretty much did the trick. Effexor XR acts upon seratonin, norepinephrine, and has a tiny effect on dopamine. The normal drowsy reaction was counteracted by the Provigil and the T3(Cytomel) boosted the uptake of the Effexor. I'm getting pretty good results with almost no side effects. Since I'm bipolar, my dose is 225 mg and I take a mood stabilizer at night.
