Not complaining, just curious. Everything I've read points to weight GAIN, not loss on Zoloft. But I have had zero appetite since Saturday. Not just dieting, but nothing tastes good. Icky taste in my mouth. Not hungry at all.

Probably good since I'm nearly 200 pounds. Just curious...why.

Yesterday I had nothing but popcorn for dinner. Today all I've had is a latte and water, no food. It's 5 PM. So...almost 24 hours on popcorn, water, and coffee.

Oh, one more question - should I tell my doc if I'm having nosebleeds? I noticed it's a common side-effect, just wondering if it's ever a problem I should call about before my regular appointments. I've had maybe 6 or 7 nosebleeds in the past 2 weeks. Not serious, they stop after a while.

Hi Razzleberry. I just started zoloft too. I understand a decrease in appetite is common. Just keep an eye on it. I would call my pdoc about the nosebleeds.

Good luck.

YES! I really struggled because my appetite went down so much on it, so keep an eye on it nad try to eat small but sensible meals rather than snacking - I know it sounds silly, but it really helped me and stopped my mood from crashing as much. Good luck!

Years ago when I was on Zoloft, doc said it could go either way, you could gain weight or lose weight on it. Looking back, I wish I could go back to being pissed about the 10lb weight gain. The stuff they have me on now, Lord have Mercy, I just can't stand it. I wish the Zoloft would still work for me.

For the nose bleeds you can put vaseline in your upper lip. It's an old boxers trick to keep your nose moist, and avoid the cracking associated with dryness that causes the nose bleed.

Yes, decreased appetite is a symptom commonly associated with taking SSRI's.

I know you may view it as beneficial because of your current weight but it may prove detrimental to your health. Do you feel weak, tired or dizzy?

If your not able to increase your appetite, talk to your pdoc.

Oh, I should mention, the nosebleeds have stopped. I only had them for maybe the first 2 weeks, maybe 2-1/2 weeks. None in over a week, so I think that cleared up.

As far as weak/tired/dizzy...well...sometimes, yeah. And I know I need to eat regularly - fasting is not good, even for weight loss (shuts down metabolism). I ate really healthy today, but couldn't finish my big bag of veggies & ranch dip, for example. Only ate half my ham sandwich. Still eating, just not very much. Which is wonderful.

I have only had one eating binge in the last 3 weeks. I used to binge about 3-5 times a week, sometimes every day. That, for me, is a HUGE thing. I don't know if it's the Zoloft or the therapy that's helping, or just the reduced stress at work after tax season. But I just no longer have that huge urge to eat crappy food all day long!
