With the lockout at my husbands work. The union gave this drug card site for us to check out. I went ahead and applied. From what I understand it doesnt cost anything for the card. Not sure yet as to how much the prescriptions will be if anything. But thought others here might need this so I wanted to post it. I am hoping if it turns out to be a good thing that it will be made a sticky in this forum. I'll try to let you guys know as I use it how it works out. http://freedrugcard.com/

Take care
Beth

You can also try:
http://www.yourrxcard.com/

It dropped my bupropion from $82 to $32. I don't know about you, but I consider that a good deal.

I don't get it - what's the catch?!? How can EVERYONE qualify? Looks too good to be true (not that I'd mind a steep decrease!)

This is essentially how it works.

A pharmacy is, ultimately, a business. Their goal is not to improve your health, but to improve the size of their collective pocket books. As such, standard business practices apply.

HMOs often have a lot of people utilizing their service, so they can use it as a bargaining chip with the pharmacy companies to get a better deal. For example, an insurance company could say: We don't like your price on sertraline, so we're not going to allow our customers to purchase from your pharmacy. However, if you drop the price by $10 for our customers, we'll allow them to buy from you.

See how that works? Monster companies such as Wal-mart do it to their suppliers. They threaten to withdraw their massive purchasing volume in order to get better deals.

The people who started the free drug cards simply understand the system, and they're making it available to everyone.

For example, yourrxcard.com probably has thousands of people subscribed to their service, and the people running the site try to increase the number of users, so they have more bargaining power.

When you use one of those cards, you're basically using the service of a free advocate who understands the system plus the collective power of others like you. You should probably write and thank the site Free Drug Card

Anyway, there really is no catch.
