Is this your first AD? Sometimes they work for people and help with our perception of reality (so it's easier) ... and sometimes they don't, and then that's when we usually decide to switch to another AD.

Everytime I take my meds, I want to cry. I'm 59 years old, have been depressed all my life and am fed up. I know you're scared, I am too. You never know when a med is going to stop working. Maybe you'll be one of the lucky people that your meds will work for you.

Give it a chance to work. It takes a few weeks to kick in, and even then the Dr. may want to adjust the dosage. I take Celexa, among other things, and it helped pull me out of a severe depression that had me hospitalized last summer. I also take an antipsychotic at a low dose to augment my anti-D's & find that it makes a big difference.
Hang in there and give the meds a chance to work. --splitimage |
