Quite some time ago I asked you about any new meds that may help my treatment resistant depression. You were gone for a time so I thougt I would ask again. I have been on multiple medications and have had a seratonin crisis on Zoloft and Ultram. Have been told all SSRIs are a no-no. See my list of meds I have taken and yes they were all given at least a 6 week trial some with increasing doses and in combo with others before I was taken off of them. To complilcate things more I tend to build up tricyclics in my system, levels go from ok to oh [censored] within a week (yes with proper dosing )
Zoloft Max 300mg /day (per pdoc very adament instructions) Effexor 225mg day Prozac 60mg day Celexia 40mg day Welbutrin dont remember the dose Neurotin 300mg 3x's day Xanax 0.5mg 4x's day as needed Adderall 10mg in am 5 mg at noon Zyprexia 2.5mg day Serzone dont remember dose Pamelor 50 mg 2x's day (toxic level) Elavil 50mg 2x day Tranxene t tabs 3 x's day Remerone dont recall doses Also had 18 ect and was recommended for a VNS study (didnt make the group before the study was ended) Any help would be greatly appreciated!! And take you time Thanks again pooh ![]()

Pooh - I have heard some good things about Cymbalta™ (duloxetine), a dual action SNRI. I have no actual experience with the drug, though.
A couple other alternatives could be the mood stabilizers such as gabapentin (Neurontin™), lamotrigine (Lamictal™), or even divalproex (Epival™/Depakote™) or lithium. These don't have as direct an effect on the neurotransmitters, but work in slightly different ways. Outside of this, I really can't think of anything else at the moment (sorry) - Cam |

I'm not Cam, but I am taking Cymbalta, so I thought I'd jump in, too.
So far, after six weeks, it's a very nice drug, and I'm having a partial response to it at 60mgs. (Per pdoc appt today: going to try 90mg starting tomorrow.) It's pretty smooth as far as side effects, most of the adjustment phase effects passed within about two weeks, the only one that remained was diarrhea, but that went away when the doctor suggested taking it AFTER breakfast, instead of just before I ate. (I take my vitamins first thing when I sit down to breakfast, so I was taking it along with them.) As soon as I started waiting until after my egg, it was fine. Good luck.
