I've been taking abilify (10 mg's) for almost 3 weeks, and happily have experienced no negative side effects. I can't be a witness to how effective it is yet, still waiting for everything to kick in and smooth over.

I've been taking Abilify for about 4 years without any side effects. It helps alot with my anger and agression. Also the extreme irritability and paranoia. It all seemed to have gone away. I take 10 mg.

I"ve been on Abilify 10mg for a while. My bigest problem with Bipolar II disorder is depression. I don't think the Abilify is helpful at all with the depression but by the same token I don't have any side effects from it. Hope this is helpful.

I found Abilify to help with my depression. Twice I went off it and both times I became depressed. Soon after starting it again, my mood would lift.

I've been on Abilify for over 8 years-- 20 mg. going up to 25 mg. if I go into a hypomania (usually a week or so at the higher dose will knock it out & then I go back down). I have bipolar 1 & had a lot of delusional thinking & paranoia & it worked really well for that. I did, however, have to take a bunch of other stuff, too--Lamictal, Klonopin, Provigil, &Trazodone .

However, during that time I have gained 50 lbs. so now I am having health problems due to that plus it isn't helping my self-esteem or mood so now my Abilify has been reduced to 5 mg & the doc has added 100 mg of Topamax. So far I've lost 10 lbs. in a month & hope it continues.--Suzy

Hey Suzy, I hope the Topamax works well for you. I love it. I take 150mg, started with 25. I quickly lost weight. I was 191 pounds and so depressed because of it. Topamax changed my life. I'm now 135. I managed to get down to 116 but my therapist insisted I was anorexic and ran to my pdoc and she almost took away the Topamax, blaming the drug on my eating disorder.
So, I had to gain some weight in order to stay on it. Hey, at least it keeps me thin AND stable.

Today was my last day on Abilfy. I took it only 3 weeks but for me the side effects were to much. The restlessness and insomnia was horrible. My doctor put me on Lorazepam while getting the abilfy out of my system. Now I started on Geodon. I am very hesitant and afraid the same side effects will occur. Abilfy also caused me to have blurred vision and extreme light sensitivity. I'd love to hear some experiences with Geodon!

Afraid I had a terrible experience with Geodon--could only stay on it 4 days. It made me so dizzy I had to lie down on the kitchen floor while trying to make coffee--the room was spinning so much. Then while at work a wave of exhaustion swept over me. I work with the public & people could actually see that something had happened to me & were asking me if I was OK.

I was not. I had to leave work & fell asleep while driving on the way home. The only thing that saved me from crashing was that I veered onto the shoulder of the road & it had gravel & the sound of the gravel woke me up. I barely got home & staggered into the house & had to immediately just lie down on the floor & sleep.

I know several people who do well with it. It is so individual.--Suzy

Wow - thanks for your feedback. I can already tell I'm having some dizziness but not sure if that is from the Lorazepam with it. I'll check the Geodon thread for more insights!....Annie

HI, I have been on Abilify for 2 years, and it helped me with paranoia. I started on 10 mg, and since my symptoms, have beeing going away I am down to 2 mg per day. I like it so far. It doesn't cause a person to gain weight , which is a big factor for me. the drug is expensive.

I D.O mentioned starting me on abilify in 2 weeks. I am also concerned about weight gain as I fought like heck to lose 90 lbs 5 years ago. I don't have to fight to keep it off now as I switched from Strattera to Vyanse this week and my appetite died.

Saw my Nurse Practitioner yesterday. The brain chatter is back but I'm gonna give the Abilify some more time. It's only been about 6 weeks so I know I need to be patient.

I've only been on Abilify for a few weeks. It was a replacement for Lamictal which caused "the rash".
So far, I LOVE the drug. It has helped my moods from fluctuating so much..however, I can still feel. I'm very satisfied.
