Do all antidepressant causes memory loss and loss of coordination ? I was on and off on Prozac 20 mg for a while and all the time i start taking these pills i start loosing track of everything...It doesnt wipe out all the memory but it makes it too hard to remember stuff that i did in past. It reduces my attention span, i feel very hard reading books, logical thinking etc....

I am not on depression medication right now...i am taking Addrell XR 15 mg for better concentration and coordination. Its been working really good. but i still get anxious and depressed if something bad happens, i want to go back on Anti Depressant or Anti Anxiety medicines but i afraid that i will start loosing memory and it will alleviate ADHD symptoms, that i faced in past.

Does anybody expericed the same as me ? Did other Anti Depressant work for you ? Can i take Anti Depressant and ADHD medicines parallely ?

Please help...

When my dose of Prozac was increased to 30 mg,that's when i started to notice more forgetfullness than usual. Sometimes I really feel like I'm in a fog. This just started happening though.
My husband and I will get into little arguments over things that one of us said and I don't remember him or I saying those things. I told him the other day that one of us must be crazy. (me??)
I took a letter to the post office which should have taken minutes and an hour later my hubby call me on the cell phone wondering where I am. I stopped to buy flowers and browse. I thought I told him. Apparently I didn't.
I don't know about taking antidepressants with your other meds.

I also cannot pay attention at all. I can't even read a magazine. I immediately give my subscriptions to my mother in law.

I agree. I take 20mg daily of Fluoxetine (generic Prozac). Well, since starting that in 2005 (well, 10mg to start then 20mg) I have experienced a verity of irritating side-effects. It's the only pill I take other than vitamins.

First it changed my attention span. It's like during work, I can't change windows fast enough or while reading emails, I'll flip to Yahoo, CNN, eBay or otherwise. It also helped me lose weight, at first, but not sure if it was just the pill or my change in eating habits. I did drop 40-lbs but in the last 9-months, it's back again (booo!).

It changes your interest in things too, including sexual and other things. Memory issues too. Wife will say "I told you that" but sometimes I won't remember.

Worst thing is names and objects. I'll look at a bag of caramels and say "can I have one of those mints". Typically call my son by my daughter's name then catch myself. It's like the link to memory queues is distorted somewhat.

I really want/need to get off of it. Or at least take something herbal. Thanks for bringing this topic up. Gonna make an appointment with the doctor to talk about it. Big problem is my wife says "you really need them". If I don't take one - the next day she'll say "why did you stop taking your pills?" - which reminds me of one of the reasons I'd drop into a depression (wife mildly nagging at times).

I think Prozac clarly alivates ADHD symptoms( Short attention Span, forgetfullness, losing track of events very easily, lack of motivation etc...). I been taking Addrell 15 XR for this. Believe me its a life changing. That is good that i found something which take care of my memory problem. I cant afford loose memory or loosing track of things...

Let me know if any other Anti Depressant work without these problem. I have specialist appointment on 30th June.

Well, careful with any casual advice on different drugs (anti-depressants, etc.). Clearly, work with your doctor to see what they think is best for you. I do constantly hear about SSRI issues and if they are mis-prescribed, things can go bad in terms of how they affect you.

I'm going to look into that Addrell, though. I'd love to get some of the sharpness back I used to have in my 30s.

Any more thoughts on this discussion ? I heard Anti Anxiety medicines (Xenex etc..) are responsible for memory loss...Did anybody experience it ? what did you do to get around it ?
